With World Cup fever sweeping the globe this month, we've rounded up some of the best places in Jakarta to watch the beautiful game

Potato Head

Five HD flat screens installed strategically around the venue, with two at the bar and three located within the outdoor enclosure. If you don’t feel like spectating with strangers, rally your friends and reserve a spot by the sofas, where there are private screens for up to 10 people.

Jakarta’s only Caribbean themed bistro and one of the top destinations for Latino expats in the Big Durian, Mambo aims to be the home base for fans of all the Latin powerhouse teams. In fact, they’ll be hosting the Mexican Embassy staff for their team’s match against South Africa, the very first game of the World Cup on June 11. They will be showing all the matches, so if you are looking for a regular place to come during the World Cup, Mambo’s a good choice. Mambo Bistro will also be serving up extra entertainment in the form of Latin music and dancing between the games. Their happy hour prices go until 8pm every night.

They’ve got a big 2.5m x 2.5m widescreen projector system for the big matches, as well as a 52-inch plasma TV.

This popular spot for expats and locals will have the Coca Cola modern dancers to entertain football fans. There’s no cover charge and plenty of free goodies will be distributed to football fans. Plus happy hour prices on drinks every day until 8pm.

EP will convert its beer garden to a marquee area by putting a tent there for the World Cup games. If you want to watch two matches going on at the same time, they have venues for all matches: the garden with one big screen and the restaurant area will have two plasma TVs.

The Pub

No cover charge at The Pub all month long! Get your local beers with your gang during happy hour from Mon-Sat, 4-8pm. You can still enjoy it on Sunday for a mere Rp. 18,000 all day long. Four plasma TVs on top of the big screen at the bar. You will not be disappointed as their screens are visible from wherever you are. They have a big screen and a projector for the big matches.

Designated as an official venue for watching World Cup 2010, Immigrant has a few special deals going on. BNI card holders get free beers or Coke throughout the month. There is also free popcorn during matches, and special package meals are available . There’s no cover charge five days a week, from Sun-Thu (Fri-Sat FDC Rp. 100,000).

You don’t need to worry about crowds blocking your view of the screen. They have two giant screens, five plasma TVs, and another two plasma TVs in their VIP room. They only have one VIP room, so make sure you come early or make a reservation.

    i watched the 3rd place and the final at The Phoenix in Wijaya street and i found it great, nice garden, comfort ambience with big screen outdoor and it's not that expensive. i really like the way they design the lounge and garden. great cocktails, i love the dynamite martini and spring roll for finger foods!
